Tax Practitioners Board Revision
Code of Professional Conduct – Confidentiality of client information
The confidentiality provisions of the Tax Practitioner Code of Conduct are under review and the Australian Tax Practitioners Board (TPB) has issued an exposure draft for comment.
The Exposure Draft can be found at https://www.tpb.gov.au/exposure-draft-tpbi-d502022-code-professional-conduct-confidentiality-client-information
At much the same time Australian Tax Office is proceeding to introduce a protocol on Legal Professional Privilege in tax related matters. The two may well, in part, overlap.
Submissions on the TPB exposure draft can be made until 12 September 2022.
The above was prepared for and is intended to provide a broad general overview of issues only. 2.8.22. It is not intended, and must not be relied upon, as definitive legal advice.
