In my view little meaningful has been published about the actual practical implications of Modern Slavery laws for small business, despite a plethora of quasi academic and Government policy material being disseminated.

From what I see and hear from people operating businesses, the material which is ‘out there’ is aimed at the ‘cognoscenti” and the big end of town.

Whilst the big end of town is the main operational nexus for the legislation (and putting aside whether the NSW legislation will just fall away) small businesses in the chain of supply have been, I believe, all but overlooked.

I have been asked to deliver a presentation “Modern Slavery Legislation: How to Manage your Obligations in Practice” on this topic by Legalwise for its Annual Government Law Conference – March 2020 and will also prepare a version just for small businesses which will probably be done as a little webinar.

I will keep readers of my blog posted about it.
