Mobility of the Legal Profession
– Qualification and Practice in MultiJurisdictions
With much greater ease of travel and vast improvements in instant communication, there is both a greater facility for and sometimes a need for practice in more than one jurisdiction.
How one looks at that issue historically has coloured attitudes, but things can and do change.
I recently participated in the 2015 Commonwealth Law Conference seminar in Glasgow, Scotland, entitled as above.
I, Joseph B Daudu of Nigeria and Thomas Ford of Canada, presented papers reflective of the position in our respective jurisdictions.
Each gave something of a history of the issue their jurisdiction(s) and talked of proposals for the future.
My paper is available for download from my firm, Eakin McCaffery Cox, website.
