The Government of Australia, in 2015, commissioned an inquiry into Australia’s intellectual property law and system. That involved community consultation with relevant stakeholders.

On 20 December 2016, the Australian Government released publicly a paper to do with recommendations for change following the review of Australian intellectual property law arrangements.

There may in 2017 be some developments in intellectual property law in Australia.

The report identifies a number of perceived inadequacies and flags various recommended changes. The Government will consider the report and recommendations in 2017.
